Knitting and Crochet Blog Week FAIL

Anyone who has ongoing illness, mental or otherwise, knows that these things have a tendency to flare up whenever is least convenient. I’ve been looking forward to Knitting and Crochet Blog Week ever since it was announced, and spent a good chunk of last week planning what I was going to write.

Then this week arrived, and I’m in one of my states of mind where I can’t read the internet without bursting into tears. No, really. Everything I read upsets me, happy or not, and if it doesn’t, I can’t summon up the words to comment on anyone’s posts. It’s stupidly frustrating and has kept me out of some of my favourite haunts over the last few days.

And I know that if I don’t post something NOW, another week is going to go buy and it’s only going to get worse. So this is a place-holder post, a promise of posts to come. I’m going to hack the old posts about and try to get them up anyway, mental block or not.

In the meantime, since a blog post is not complete without a picture (even a blurry phone picture), here’s one I took of my stash the other night. I believe the word I am looking for is GULP.

  1. Lord – no wonder you feel overwhelmed! That is one enormous stash – although I am one to talk. Hope you feel a bit more up soon my dear. Feeling like doing nothing is no good 😦 X

  2. Oh honey, that stash ain’t nuthin’ but lovelies waiting to be knit……and they can wait as long as we need them to. My husband has said that my stash is part of my retirement since I don’t have enough time to knit now. Funnily enough, he didn’t say that about my spinning wheel.

If it makes you feel any better, my stash is about 5x that size (and that doesn’t include fiber, my wheel, my spindles, books, or other knitting/crocheting notions).

And there’s no law that says you HAVE to do Knit & Crochet Blog Week right now this week. The tags will still be good in five years, if it takes that long (which I doubt).

  3. 😦 Sorry you’re going through all this, but you don’t owe anyone anything, so if the blogosphere is stressing you out at the moment then try not to get frustrated – just come back to it when you’re ready.

In the meantime, roll around in that gorgeous pile of yarn!

  4. I hope things ease up for you! I know how difficult it can be! You take your time and stay flexible. We will be here when you are up to it. That is a fantastic stash! I love all your beautiful colours! Don’t worry about posting as when you do post we enjoy reading what you write and seeing your lovely pictures.

  5. Hope you feel better soon Laura! I rarely want to cry at things I read online, scream or hit people yes, but then we do all react differently to things. Take your time, but do come back when you’re ready. In some ways, it’s almost as if there’s some kind of general malaise going around blogland at the moment!

  6. Wow, that’s a lot of yarn, and such pretty colours. I totally agree with mental illness biting deep when it is most likely to get in the way of you having fun, I’m right there too. At least you and I know that it will pass, just do what you need to do to get by, and don’t beat yourself up to much. The wonderful thing about the internet is that it will still be there when you’re ready to enjoy it.
    Hope your doing better today.
