FO Friday: new and shiny

Hello, all, assuming my epic post of all my works in progress didn’t put you off coming back and reading again! Not much has happened here in terms of making, but several very exciting things have happened in terms of getting!

To start with the most exciting one, I’m typing this on my brand new iPad!!! As part of my birthday present, Mum helped us out with the cost, and I might have only had it for 24 hours, but I’m already in love <;;3

Since I'm using it, I don't have any pictures*of* it, but I do have some pictures taken *with* it!

(apologies if you got notified of this post twice – I’m still getting the hang of the WordPress app!)

I really love this cushion. It’s perfect for work and really cheers up my boring chair. I also got to use one of the decorative stitches on the envelope edges, which makes me happy.

Not bad pictures either, I think. This iPad and are going to be best friends, I can already tell πŸ™‚

I’ve downloaded a bunch of apps already, and I’ll report back once I’ve had a chance to use them. Any recommendations for me?

To see what other people have finished this week (hopefully they’re less distracted by shiny things than I am!), head over to Tami’s here

  1. Congrats on your new iPad – I have one (first generation, no camera!) and I adore it. You should get Goodreader if you haven’t already – great for knitting patterns.

Love the cushion, the decorative stitch is really pretty πŸ™‚

    1. I’ve wanted one for so long that I have to keep picking mine up to tell myself it’s real!

I have the free version of Goodreader on my iPod and was wondering whether to pay out for it for the iPad. It’s so good, but I’d like something where I can annotate the PDFs and keep track of which row I’m on, especially for knitting! Will have to investigate, thanks πŸ™‚

  2. Ah, yes … iPad love! I have one of the original ones without a camera handed down to me when hubby upgraded to an iPad 2. At some point I might run to my very own brand new one, but I can’t justify it really!!

I have loads of apps … if you like taking pics there’s Instagram (I have it on my phone which does have a camera), I have the Kindle app so that I can read a book (great for doctor’s appointments or when travelling), the iBooks app as well (you can add any PDF file to it – so it’s great for having things like crochet patterns to hand when travelling as you can turn almost any document into a PDF). I have Flipboard to allow me to read and comment on all the blogs in my Google reader plus Facebook and twitter … fantastic app; wouldn’t be without it. Skype, a bunch of sudoku and solitaire type games … the list goes on!!

    Have fun with your iPad!

    1. I use instagram on my phone already, so it’s going to be fun experimenting on the iPad. Some of these I’ve heard about (iBooks and Flipboard in particular) but wasn’t sure about. Nice to know that they’re actually usable and fun! Thanks πŸ™‚

  3. Congrats on the new iPad. My Mom just bought one so I am going to inherit her old one when she visits in a few weeks. Hurray! Love the pillow too.

  4. What fun, Laura! I have had my iPad2 for a few months but am still learning how to take advantage of all it can do. The above advice from others helps me, too. Thanks!
The special decorative stitch on you pillow is very nice.
    Happy Weekend!

  5. yay for Ipads. My OH claimed that it belonged to us both at the weekend. A nonsense as I never know where it is let alone get to use it! Great cushion X

  6. I can totally understand the obsession that comes with a new iPad πŸ™‚ It is a really useful and fun tool… or toy? Heh. And I certainly can’t be scared away by WIP posts, since those just make me feel better about my own pile of WIPS πŸ˜€

I’ve enjoyed your blog so much since I started following it when you did the SMS Giveaway, that I nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award. If you’d like to accept it, you can find out what to do in my blog. πŸ™‚
